Mental Well-Being & Sleep Care

Relaxation, breath work and routine changes that support restful sleep and a calmer mind.

About this therapy

Stress, irregular routines and screen habits can all affect sleep and mood. This programme brings together relaxation practices, yoga nidra, breathing techniques and daily-routine guidance.

If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis, please contact emergency services or a qualified mental-health professional straight away.

What to expect

  • Relaxation and breathing practices
  • Sleep-friendly routine guidance
  • Can be paired with counselling sessions

Why stress and sleep go together

Stress and sleep affect each other. A busy mind makes it harder to fall asleep, and poor sleep leaves you less able to cope with stress the next day. Late screens, irregular hours, caffeine, long commutes and worry can all keep the cycle going. The NHS notes that most adults need around seven to nine hours of sleep, and that lasting insomnia often improves when sleep habits change.

This programme brings together natural, drug-free practices that support a calmer mind and more restful sleep.

What the programme may include

  • Sleep-routine guidance. Regular wake-up and bed times, a wind-down hour, light and screen habits, caffeine timing and a cool, dark, quiet room.
  • Breathing practices. Slow breathing and practices such as anulom vilom and bhramari to settle the nervous system. See our pranayama guide.
  • Yoga nidra and relaxation. Guided deep relaxation, lying down. See Yoga Nidra.
  • Gentle yoga. Slow evening practices that release tension from the body.
  • Meditation. Simple techniques for a quieter mind. See Meditation.
  • Ayurvedic therapies. Calming therapies such as shirodhara, abhyanga and kansa thali.
  • Counselling. A space to talk through what is on your mind. See Counselling.

A simple evening wind-down

  1. Dim the lights and put screens away an hour before bed.
  2. Have a light dinner two to three hours before sleeping.
  3. Take a warm shower or massage your feet with a little oil.
  4. Spend five minutes on slow breathing, making the out-breath longer than the in-breath.
  5. Go to bed at about the same time each night, and get up at the same time each morning.

Who may consider it

  • People who struggle to fall asleep, wake often or wake too early.
  • People feeling stressed, tense or overwhelmed.
  • People who want natural support alongside the care of their doctor or therapist.

What the research says

Changing sleep habits is a core part of mainstream insomnia care. NCCIH reports that relaxation techniques, meditation and yoga may help some people sleep better and feel less stressed, with modest effects that vary between people.

Frequently asked questions

Can natural therapies replace sleeping tablets?

Please do not stop prescribed sleep or mental-health medicines on your own. Natural practices can support better sleep alongside your doctor's care, and any change to medicines should be planned with the prescriber.

Which therapy is best for sleep?

There is no single best therapy. Most plans combine a regular routine with breathing, relaxation such as yoga nidra, and sometimes calming therapies such as shirodhara. Your consultant will suggest a mix that suits you.

Is shirodhara good for sleep?

Many people find shirodhara deeply relaxing. Formal research is limited, and the clinic does not promise it will treat insomnia, but it can be part of a calming plan.

Do you help with anxiety?

The clinic offers relaxation, yoga, meditation and counselling sessions that many people find helpful for everyday stress. Anxiety disorders should also be assessed by a doctor or mental-health professional.
